Host firmware package - Difference between simple and advanced option.

Regarding host firmware package-

Using advanced option, we can upgrade specific sub server components such as CIMC or BIOS.

When I select basic, does that mean.. I can map this to a service profile and associate to any blade and the respective adapter specific to blade and cimc and bios would be upgraded ?

Which is the best practice ?

Simple or Advanced. ?

Re: Host firmware package - Difference between simple and advanc

Shyam,

IMHO there is no difference at all in regards to which one is best. The HFP allows you to determine the firmware of different components through a policy.

In advanced mode, you need to know the specific "hardware" present on the server that will use a Service Profile with the HFP created.

In simple mode, ALL (FC cards, BIOS, CIMC, Adapter, etc) possible hardware listed in a HFP will be selected, which will rule out "mistakes" from the user.

If you use advanced mode and you do NOT select something, that piece of "hardware" will simply not use the same firmware as the others selected; simple mode is just easier, faster and error free.

The simple answer to your question is.. "yes", simple mode selects everything that you have to manually select in advanced mode.
