Hello. We're looking for tech specs about Cisco Fabric Interconnect 6140 Operating System. For us is important to know if the os is NX-OS or not.

The underlying OS is built on NX-OS, but there is a lot of software running on top that is the actual UCSM itself.
The UCSM software controls the NXOS portions directly - there is no ability to actually configure the system from an NXOS level.

Is'it possibile to know if there is the same situation with Nexus 7000 or if for this kind of appliance it's possible to configure the system from an NXOS level?

To answer the question in general, the Nexus 7000 has the same look and feel of IOS in that it can be completely configured via CLI. UCS is different, it has an NXOS CLI you can connect to via SSH but it will only give you show commands. Configuring UCSM via the NXOS session is not possible. You can configure UCS via CLI however I dont recommend it personally. The java based GUI will get you there faster believe it or not. Does this answer your question?
