MegaRAID requesting a RAID Activation Key

sean.smith
Level 1
Level 1

Server is a UCS C240 M3 SFF

with an LSI MegaRAID SAS 9266CV-8i

We are unable to enable RAID 10

This is requesting an activation key.

Can anyone advise on the process to obtain the activation key.

The spec sheet or installation documentation makes no mention of any required license.

Sean,

To create a RAID 10 you do not have to select "Advanced Software Options" but instead you need to select "Configuration Wizard"  and then select "New Configuration".

We answered a while ago in the community how to configure RAID 10 in the different ways possible (Through the GUI if you are running CIMC 1.5 or later   OR through WebBIOS which is the one you are trying). See this thread https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11977411/ucs-c220-series-server

Don't know the answer, however, LSI documentation clearly mentions the procedure, see e.g.

http://www.lsi.com/downloads/Public/Direct%20Assets/LSI/48343-00_Rev_A_ELF_UG.pdf

MegaRAID®
Advanced Software Options
Electronic License Activation
User Guide

and LSI also provides trial keys for 30 days

I had seen this document.

The RAID card was purchased as part of the Cisco build.

Do you know if Cisco provide the "License Authorization Code" as stated in the link you provided?

Hi Sean,

How many drives do you have?

How are you selecting the drives?  Note that with raid 10 you need to create at least 2 drive spans of two disk each to see the raid 10 option.

Can you provide a picture of where are you seeing this request of an activation key?

Did you buy this controller from Cisco?

Hello,

See the image attached.

The server has 18 Drives

Have you tried to create the raid 10?  I don't think cisco sales licenses to enable raid 10, this feature should be enable as far as I am concern.

Let me know if you need documents on how to create a raid 10.

If there is documentation on the RAID 10 Creation process that would be good.

I have an Engineer who believes that an additional license requires purchasing specifically the part code R2XX-RAID10

However I believe that this is an optional part code that provides for it to be configured in the factory and isn't necessary.

Did you see https://communities.cisco.com/thread/13074

Sean,

Did the process I provided helped you create the RAID10?  If yes, please mark the question as answered so future users can see you found the solution you were looking for, and please rate the other answers if they were useful. (pretty sure they were :) )

First, clear the configuration.easy way, use GUI.

On command line:

#Scope chassis

#scope storageadapter slot %d

storageadapter #clear-foreign-config

confirm (Y/N) Y

show physical-drive-count

this is the second way to clear configuration.after this process u can create raid 10. u don't need license to create raid 10. it's setting only

thanks

Hope this help
