Nexus 1000v

Hello All!

I am working on UCS and Nexus 1000v (still new to 1000v). I managed to install, configure and migrate my original two hosts servers to Cisco's virtual switch. The problem I have run into is when I added two new blades to the chassis and upgraded(wiped clean) the original two blades. Now I can not add any servers to the vNDS and I am thinking it is because the way I migrated. I know this is a pretty generic posting, but I think I have a couple of issues that amount to a handful of Doo. In the VSM there shows two modules (3 & 5) with a status of absent I deleted module 4 as a test.

Mod     Status          UUID                                    License Status
---     -----------     ------------------------------------    --------------
  3          absent     12345671-2345-6712-0000-00000000008f    un-licensed
  5          absent     12345671-2345-6712-0000-00000000004f    licensed

The generic error I get when I try to add a host is

vDS operation failed on host usdeesxtst01.dca.tetrapak.com, An error occurred during host configuration. got (vim.fault.PlatformConfigFault) exception

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Re: Nexus 1000v

Troy -

Can you confirm if the VEM module is running from the ESX CLI by typing 'vem status'.?

Would you also be able to collect the VEM counters (2 iterations should do it), with this command: show module vem counters

Thanks,

Jen

Re: Nexus 1000v

I was able to resolve the issue by installing the VEM manully on the ESX host using the "esxudpate -b" command.

Best regards,

Troy
