UCS 2.0 Documentation Loop

Hey all,

I am interested in the VIF scaling with interconnect port channel mode.

The following section in the Configuration Guide indicates that a document exists:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/gui/config/guide/2.0/b_UCSM_GUI_Configuration_Guide_2_0_chapter_01110.html#concept_09169B12A90C4581B16592B8B8963491

Where there is a link called:

VIF Scaling for Fabrics in Port Channel Mode

Which loops back to the same page.

Googling for the title get me no where except the following:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/hw/chassis/install/install.html#wp1346269

Again, no real deatils except:

Inside the 6248 fabric interconnect there are six sets of eight contiguous ports, with each set of ports managed by a single chip. When uplinks are connected such that all of the uplinks from an IOM are connected to a set of ports managed by a single chip, Cisco UCS Manager maximizes the number of VIFs used in service profiles deployed on the blades in the chassis. If uplink connections from an IOM are distributed across ports managed by separate chips, the VIF count is decreased.

Can anyone point me towards actual documentation for VIF scaling?

Cheers

Adam

Hello Adam,

Maximum VIFs per UCS domain is limited to 2000 and maximum VIF per blade/adapter varies depending upon the hardware, OS / BIOS and VNtag namespace.

Are you using port channel between 6200 Fabric Interconnect  and 2208 IO Module ?

Configuration limits are documented here

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/configuration_limits/2.0/b_UCS_Configuration_Limits_2_0.html

I will follow up on the URL link referred in UCSM guide.
