UCS E140S (Singe-wide Blade) - sd cards query

Hello, can someone help me with the following items?

- UCS E140S (Singe-wide Blade) comes with 2x SD cards, one (sd0) dedicated for CIMC software and other (sd1) for Hypervisor/ OS install.

- Can I use sd0 to store additional software/ files if I need to store/ backup some media/data/software?

- Can I use sd1 to store additional software/ files if I need to store/ backup some media/data/software? I would like to use sd card similar to USB drive and question is, can I mount sd drive to VMs built on E140S/ ESXi and copy data to and from?

- How can I mount sd card to ESXi/ VM, is it similar to USB or extra hard drive? Can I have high level steps?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Joseph,

You can install ESXi to a USB or SD flash storage device directly attached to the server but installing VMs on SD card, I think not good idea as SD cards as off now can store up to 16 GB of data that is not sufficient for todays VMs. Local HDD or SAN is better option.
