UCS Initial setup

Dear Team,

New to Ucs,have got the initial physical connection.

Using the below hw comp

UCS 5108 Blade Svr AC Chassis-1+1

UCS 2204XP I/O Module (4 External, 16 Internal 10Gb Ports)-2+2

UCS B200 M3 Blade Server -4+4

Cisco UCS VIC 1240 modular LOM for M3 blade servers

Need guidance /document on>

Initial setup

Service profiles

creation of vHba

creation of vnic

connecting to SAN

(Mounting SAN to B200 blade running guest OS(Windows) on ESxi)

connecting to Network

Lot's of documents on the web/blogs and Cisco's website......

The basic steps would be:

  1. Racking
  2. Physical cabling the FI's to the IO modules
  3. Physical cabling the FI's to your upstream SAN
  4. Physical cabling the FI's to your upstream LAN
  5. Initially configure your FI's to allow configuration by UCSM (connect to console and follow the prompts) or PowerShell or an xml Golden Image
  6. Upgrade firmware
  7. Configure your FI's (pools, policies, VSAN's, VLAN's, service profile templates, etc...)
  8. Boot your profile and install ESXi from the console
  9. Config VCenter
  10. Install guest VM

was able to add service profile and install Esxi also was able to host a VM, this was done on the B200 blade, SAN not yet configured,

Now the scenario will be VMware with UCS ,VM-FEX,with Cisco Nexus v 1000  VSM,VEM will you be able to guide on

this as how to start off

UCS + VMware  with SAN integration

For Nexus 1000v it will depend on the version that you will be installing.  Below is an example of the initial set up for

4.2(1) SV1(4).
