UCS Manager and AD Integration

Hallo,

I want to Integrate the UCS Manager into the Active Directory. I read other discussions about it and followed the instructions on http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/c/sw/cli/config/guide/1.1.2/Cisco_CIMC_CLI_Configuration_Guide_1_1_2_chapter6.html#concept_AC4EC4E9FA3F4536A26BAD49734F23D0And

But is the “Unique X500 Object ID” 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.287247.1 a Cisco ID or is it registered at Microsoft. The Problem is that we have to change the AD schema and must be sure that the ID is really unique, also in the future.

I hope you can help me. Thank you very much in advance.

Adrian,

For UCSM 1.4 or above, we do not need that attribute.

Hello Adrian,

Can you please clarify whether you are configuring CIMC (  Rack server mgmt SW  ) or UCS Manager for LDAP authentication ?

For UCSM version 1.4 or above version, the following doc provides step by step information on integrating UCS Manager with AD.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/sample_configurations/UCSM_1_4_LDAP_with_AD/Sample_Configuration_LDAP_with_AD_chapter1.html

I try to configure the UCS Manager  for LDAP authentication.

I understood that I need to add a new attribute with the “Unique X500 Object ID” 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.287247.1. to our existing users, who want to get access. And my AD administrator asked me if the ID is really unique and it is registered at Microsoft, so that there will be never conflicts with other attributes, which maybe will be added later.

Adrian,

For UCSM 1.4 or above, we do not need that attribute.
