Hello -

Looking to buy a couple of C220 servers with Cisco VIC 1225. The plan is to connect this CNA adapter to a 10GBaseT module on a 3750-X.

Want to make sure this will work. Can someone confirm? Also, will I able to carve out some virtual NICs on the 1225, or do I need a 5K or a FI6248 to instantiate virtual NICs. I am assuming that if I can't carve out virtual NICs, the OS will see two physical 10G ports on the 1225.

Thank you!

Hi Kasarin,

The 1225 VIC in Classical Ethernet ( CE ) does interoperate with any standards based Ethernet switch like the 3750. The only limitation with the 3750x is that it will only understand Ethernet traffic and not FCoE. You should still be able to configure multiple virtual interfaces (vnics). You have to make sure that the ports on the 3750 are configured as trunks and that there's no port security settings disabling the ability to learn multiple MAC addresses on these ports.

I included the configuration guide below in case you needed.
