VNX5300 Directly Connected

Good evening.

I have been reading up online and have found conflicting information on this topic and I was hoping someone could help clear this up.

We inherited a VNX5300 and 3 C200's.  We purchased two 6248s as we were told we could directly connect the VNX5300 to the 6248's and host ESX hosts on the C200s.

My questions are these:

1. Can you directly connect VNX5300's to the 6248' running the latest software?

2. Can I host ESX 5 hosts on the C200 and boot from SAN in this manner?

3. Is there any documentation online that could walk us through setting up an environment like ours for hosting ESX?

Thanks!

WS

William,

I looked up 2.1.2a HCL assuming you are running latest UCSM version on 6248

1) Yes, you can directly attach VNX to 6248

2) ESXi 5 is supported on C200

3 )  Are these rack servers connected to FI ?   If yes, they can boot from VNX SAN array.

Following docs can serve as reference
