Dear colleagues!

My customer planned migration UC to VMware platform. When I sent him Specs-Based Hardware Requirements for running Cisco UC on Supported Versions of VMware vSphere ESXi (http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Specification-Based_Hardware_Support) he ask me why other 3rd-party server vendor, such as Dell, Fujitsu, Oracle/Sun is not supported.

Might you tell me explanation (or explanation of vendor Cisco) why this servers vendors is not supported?

Thank you!

I'm not a UC expert but i have included two links that i feel should answer your questions. The second link lists the Cisco 7800 Series Media Convergence Servers.

The Cisco Media Convergence Server 7815-I1 provides an entry-level tower server equipped with an Intel Pentium 4 3060 MHz processor, 80GB Serial ATA hard drive, and a single non-hot swap power supply.

None of the UCS hardware uses the pentium 4. I hope this helps. If not the UC community should be able to provide a answer.
