All of the gateways have a "heartbeat" LED that blinks 1-second on, 1-second off when the gateway software is running normally. If this LED is not blinking at all, or blinking very rapidly, then the gateway software is not running according to the following doc:

But i have no idea on the info which is sent out by the CM.
