I have a C3640 with NMHDV 2E1 and I want to terminate VoIP calls using both E1 ports using the same dial-peer.

You need at least one pots peer per physical port. You can use a single voip peer to route into the IP network, depending upon your environment. Best practice is to configure one inbound and one outbound pots peer per physical port.

Example:

dial-peer voice 100 pots

description Inbound POTS peer port 1/0:30

incoming called-number.

direct-inward-dial

port 1/0:30

dial-peer voice 101 pots

description Inbound POTS peer port 1/1:30

incoming called-number.

direct-inward-dial

port 1/1:30

dial-peer voice 200 pots

description Outbound POTS peer port 1/0:30

destination-pattern T

preference 1

port 1/0:30

dial-peer voice 201 pots

description Inbound POTS peer port 1/1:30

destination-pattern T

preference 2

port 1/1:30

dial-peer voice 300 voip

description VoIP Peer

destination ....

session target ipv4:

ip dscp ef media

ip dscp af31 signalling

The preference command uses the lowest number first for route selection. This is assuming both circuits are used for inbound and outbound call routing. Inbound and outbound peers are used for ease of troubleshooting.

Excuse me if I got the channel numbering wrong, I work w/ T1s not E1s. It may be possible to use NFAS and have a single dial-peer, but you'd have to sort through CCO to see if/how you could do that.

Rob,

What happens if i use the same preference? Basically what i want to do is load balance incomming traffic between 2 E1. If I use different preference on the same dial-peer i will have to wait until all 30 channels are occupied, right?
