IP/TV migrating from Catalyst 5500 to 6500 switch

We have moved from a Catalyst 5509 switch to a 6513 Switch and IP/TV is not working. Is there a configuration command I need to enter to get this to work?

Re: IP/TV migrating from Catalyst 5500 to 6500 switch

Are you running native IOS or hybrid (CatOS/IOS)

Also, are you routing on your 6513? (MSFC)

Anyway, you need to enable CGMP on the switch.

If you do route on the Cat, you also need to enable multicast-routing globally, and a multicast-routing protocol (e.g. PIM) on the relevant VLAN-interfaces.

This is what I have on my 6509 Sup1/MSFC/PFC running native IOS:

----- snip -----

ip multicast-routing

!

interface Vlan501

ip address 10.5.1.2 255.255.255.0

ip access-group 100 in

ip helper-address 10.9.98.4

ip helper-address 10.9.98.5

no ip redirects

no ip unreachables

ip pim dense-mode

ip cgmp

standby 1 ip 10.5.1.1

standby 1 priority 110

standby 1 preempt

!

----- snip -----

Hope this helps!

Re: IP/TV migrating from Catalyst 5500 to 6500 switch

Just running native with no routing. I know CGMP was enabled on the 5505 but I didnt see the enable for CGMP in the 6500 series command set. They had GMRP whic I enabled but had no effect. I'll give it a try and see if that works.
