Re: multicast nework on cisco router

You need to enable multicast routing (global config: ip multicast-routing), then tailor the kind of traffic flow you anticipate with "ip pim" and igrp commands (global and per-interface).

You'll need to decide on PIM Sparse, sparse-dense, or dense, who is going to be the Rendevous point (RP) - which is basically a point of convergence / divergence for the multicast traffic, etc.

Each router tha handles the multicast traffic needs to be enabled from Multicast routing, and tailored with the IP PIM and IGRP commands.

If you are using CGMP-enabled switches, you may want to enabled that as well to prune back the multicast traffic to the clients that are looking for the multicast traffic.

There are too many details to cover in a post. Do a search on the main Cisco site for PIM, IGMP, CGMP, and multicast routing.

Good Luck
