QoS Queues for VoIP

Hello,

How many priority QUEUES are necessary to implement VoIP on LAN SWITCHING infrastructure?

I'm asking this because my customer said that Cisco's Switches does not support 8 queues like Enterasys.

If Cisco really does not support it, I want to find kind of document telling that only 4 queues enough to do VoIP. Can you help me?

Thank You

Not only 4 queues are sufficient, I still have to see an environment whereby more than 1 was needed in practice.

There is cisco marketing that you can use for this plusconsiderm as it works everywhere your customer should not worry it will not work there.

Ok, I will try to find this Cisco Marketing document.

Tks!

Four queues allows a mapping as follows:

1) real-time (e.g. VoIP) LLQ

2) mission critical or gold (reserves sufficient bandwidth to support such traffic), e.g. VoIP signaling

3) best effort (most traffic, often allowed to use all otherwise non-utilized bandwidth)

4) scavenger (very low or minimal bandwidth allocation and/or policed)
