video codec and dial-peer

under dial-peer command, there are video codec h261/h263/h264. My question is:

1. What is the default video codec in cisco gw?

2. If no DSP, one video end station use h261, the other use h263, it won't work?

Re: video codec and dial-peer

There is no default video codec which leads to transparent codec operation. This means that the codec is negotiated between the endpoints. See the following link.

There is currently not a transcoder to transcode video codecs. In the case of endpoints with different codecs, you would need another device such as an MCU.

Hope this helps. If so, please rate the post.
