voice over ip for as5300

Hi, guys

We want to setup voice over ip across internet. 2 Gws are 5350 and 5300. This side is North America with T1 pri signal, the other side is in China with E1pri signal. Our customer concerned that this solution won't work because of these mismatched signal. I told them there should be no problem since it's running H.323 between 2 GWs, it won't carry the T1 signal over to the other side and same as the other way. Any thoughts on this? Thanks

Re: voice over ip for as5300

Hi,

This shouldn't be a problem. Like you said, the signaling used between

the two gateway is H323. The signaling used on toward PSTN doesn't

matter.

Thanks,

Re: voice over ip for as5300

The mismatch is not relevent and will not cause a problem.

As the signal types are layer 2 while VoIP is layer 3.

It is similar to two user communicating between a dialup ppp and DSL. They can still communicate at the layer 3 regardless of the differences at layer 2.

This works very very well.

We have setup networks between the US (using T1 trunks) and Nigeria (using E1 trunks) and there are no issues at all.
