VT Advantage with Non-Cisco Cameras

Now that we have VT Advantage working with IP Communicator (very cool!), we are looking for ways to use this - especially for my traveling users.

I understand the the Cisco camera is the only supported device, but it really isn't very "travel friendly" given it's size and bulk.

Has anyone experimented with other laptop and travel-friendly devices to see if they will work? Many of our laptop users have a monitor on their desk and can use the Cisco camera in the office, but when they travel it would be nice to have a smaller camera to take with them.

Anyone have any success stories?

Additionally, there are now laptops with built-in cameras. It would really be nice to be able to utilize them with VT advantage.

Re: VT Advantage with Non-Cisco Cameras

The latest version 2.0.2.0 provides limited support for other cameras. I was able to use a Logitech Fusion.

Re: VT Advantage with Non-Cisco Cameras

using 2.0.2.2. 0 I was just able to get the Logitech Quickcam Pro for Notebooks working with IP Communicator. SFF camera pefect for traveling.

Re: VT Advantage with Non-Cisco Cameras

I have used it with 2 different cheapo Intel cameras and it worked fine. I think most USB cameras will work.

Re: VT Advantage with Non-Cisco Cameras

My VT camera was unplugged the other day, and I ended up sending the video stream from my WinTV card by accident.

Please, if possible, send me the intel cameras family and models that you used cause I wanna test.

Thanks in advanced

Re: VT Advantage with Non-Cisco Cameras

Hi Andre,

I did not test any Intel cameras. That comment came from someone else who posted a reply to my question, so you should probably email them directly.

I was able to get the Logitech Quickcam Fusion to work.
