Call Counters

Dear NetPros,

We have configured a Cisco AS5350 for terminating originating traffic. This voice gateway is connected to 4 E1s which are E1 R2 CAS. I have configured preference on the dial-peers in such a way that the first E1 has 1st preference, second E1 has 2nd preference and so on. The issues that we are facing are these:

a] On our first E1 the DS0s Active High Water

Mark has never crossed more than 24 though we

have an E1s connected to the gateway. Also

when we see the call resource voice stats it

shows the Addressable Channels under DS0

Statistics as 120 [for 4 E1s].

b] If we have given the first preference to the

1st E1, second preference to the 2nd E1 and so

on then why are the calls going to the second

E1 even before the first E1 is getting filled

up i.e. why are the calls going to the second

E1 even before the active DS0s on the first E1

reach 30.

The Output of the E1 Call Counters are given below for analysis:

Re: Call Counters

This stement is kind of confusing: "AS5350 for terminating originating traffic"

If the 5350 is terminating traffic only, then the priority of the E1s will not make any different , it would be up to the telco sending you the calls to choose which E1 they will send the calls on.

If this is originating traffis, then I would expect it to work as you described.

Hope this helps....

Re: Call Counters

Yes it is only terminating traffic which is coming from Tier 1 Carriers around the world.

Re: Call Counters

OK, then the switch that you connected to will determine which E1 the calls will be sent to you on.

You could ask them to round-robin between the E1s.

Hope this helps....
