I have a requirement to interface with a customers existing overhead paging system. The system has a very simple 3.5mm jack input and broadcasts whatever it receives on this input. Now I know I can do this with E&M but rather than purchasing E&M modules I'd like to try using either FXS or ATA's as the customer already has several spare.
One big problem is that when I connect the paging system up to an ATA it immediatly takes the ATA off hook. Is anyone aware if it is possible to force an ATA to ignore the condition of the attached handset and connect through audio sent via the call control system? I haven't tried FXS as yet but I susspect I will encounter the same problem.
