Hi All,
I am new in IP telephony. I hear that the softphone can be installed in the laptop so that when an employee go out for work and when he is connecting to internet, he can receive and make a call. Does anybody know how can I do it? Must I need the Call Manager? Where can I find information? Thank You!
Best Regards

Since the Softphone can be used instead of a regular hardware based IP phone, I think you will need a Callmanager to make calls from the softphone. If someone is travelling, they can use the softphone on the laptop to connect to their enterprise network over a VPN and connect to the Callmanager to make calls as if they were located in the office. But I doubt whether they would be able to use it without connecting to a Callmanager. See if this link helps you :

Yes, this works - and quite well I might add. Here's my home config:
Softphone>Cisco VPN Client>Laptop>Wireless NIC>Wireless AP>SDSL>Internet>P2P T1>Corporate GW>PIX/VPN>CallManager
