How to debug VoIP (out & in)?

I have set up AS-5300s as VoIP gateways a few times.

Now, however, the calls don't seem to go through.

My gateway is hooked up to a PRI T1 and receives POTS

incoming calls which are supposed to be forwarded via

Internet to somebody else's AS-5300 over which I have

no control. They just gave me their IP address, codec

g729br8 and 1234 as tech prefix.

The remote people claim that they are no receiving anything

from my equipment, so I'd like to do some debugging.

For POTS calls, I find the "debug isdn q931" option very

useful, and I am looking for something equivalent for VoIP.

I have tried several debug options, but some of them give

next to me nothing, while others give me tons of incomprehensible

stuff.

The command I am using now is the undocumented call simulator

(csim start <phone #>), and I get this message:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

as-5300#csim start 12345678

csim: called number = 12345678, loop count = 1 ping count = 0

csim err csimDisconnected recvd DISC cid(3)

csim: loop = 1, failed = 1

csim: call attempted = 1, setup failed = 1, tone failed = 0

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for your kind assistance,

-Ramon F. Herrera
