I have a VOIP network where for the purposes of this discussion, I only control the terminating gateway. The gateway connects to another gateway device using 'r2-digital'. The r2 gateway device has a very long PDD. As a result, my call stats for completed calls is low as users hangup before the call completes. I would like to find a way to notify the user that the call is in progress... either a ring tone, an announcement, or etc... The tricky part is the 'r2-digital' as I don't get any feedback from this circuit I cannot use the progress_ind commands within the VOIP/POTS dial-peer. if anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.
An alternate to the progress_ind setup command is the dial-peer voice # voip subcommand tone ringback alert-no-pi. This will cause the gateway to generate ringback towards the calling party if an alert is received on the IP call leg with no PI present.
However, we used the cas-custom commands to fix the long PDD. It helps us to know how many DNIS digits to expect and when to send a dnis-complete.
