Does anyone know of a way to begin a Meet-Me conference externally [eg., outside of the gateway]?

As far as I know, you can only begin a Meet-Me conference only from an IP Phone, although you should be able join those conferences from normal phones.

Use a translation pattern to point to the meetme number you want. That should work I used pretty much the same thing previously.
example:
translation pattern 2500 translate to 8080. User initiating the meetme would use 8080 all external parties would dial 2500 and be redirected. Hope that helps.

unfortunatly you can not start a meet me conference outside of your network unless you are using conference connection or PA. To start a meetme you have to be able to tell the Callmanager that you want to initiate the meetme, inside this is done with the meetme button. There is no way to send thisinformation to the callmanager via PSTN.
