hi,

i have a question:

i have router 2811 with E1 (VWIC-1MFT-E1) it's connects to a PSTN, This router also connects to second router with PSTN connection

i am tyring to configure 15 more channels (currently i have 15 configured). and i get ERR MSG.

MY config:

voice-card 0

codec complexity high

dspfarm

controller E1 1/0/0

framing NO-CRC4

ds0-group 1 timeslots 1-10 type e&m-wink-start

ds0-group 2 timeslots 11-12 type e&m-wink-start

ds0-group 3 timeslots 13-15 type e&m-wink-start

after shutting the voice port and removing ds0-group 3.

i try to config:

(config-controller)#ds0-group 3 timeslots 13-30 type e&m-wink-start

AND I AM GETTING this MSG:

"Current dsp resources can support 6 timeslots;need 6 extra dsps

to support the requested configuration"

can you explain?what should i do?

i can only configure:

(config-controller)#ds0-group 3 timeslots 13-19 type e&m-wink-start

and only 3 more channels are comeing up:

Jun 6 22:12:55.650: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface recEive and transMit1/0/0:3(17), changed state to up

Jun 6 22:12:55.650: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface recEive and transMit1/0/0:3(18), changed state to up

Jun 6 22:12:55.654: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface recEive and transMit1/0/0:3(19), changed state to up

why the 16th don't come up?

Hello,

please show do "show diag", together with "show version", this will tell you which type of PVDM2 do you have in the router, that is how many voice channels you can configure. Most likely, you have PVDM2-16. If not enough, you can replace it or add another.

In any case, you will never be able to use the 16th timeslot, because it is reserved for the ISDN signaling (D channel).

For my curiosity, can I ask to what pstn/country are you connecting ? CAS E&M on E1 is not common.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

As it looks i have PVDM-12 and 2 slots free for more.

What PVDM in need to buy to be compatible (and not to BURN my Routers mother board)

with my router my NM-HDV and VWIC-1MFT-E1 in it.????

if you can, fost link's.

Thanks.

Do you require high complexity for compression (G729 etc)? With high complexity 2 DSP channels are required per timeslot. Your three PVDM-12s (36) can handle 18 high complexity ports. If you use G711 only 1 is required, and you would have enough for your E1.

hi dave,

my config is listed in my first replay and the is the commpresion i am going to use.

currently i have 15 active lines for calls in the e1 connection to the router.

i the current spec and config i can add tree more active lines (chanells),

i have 2 more free slots and i want to activate the rest of the lines in the E1 (12 more lines) so according to my config and specs , What kind of PVDM-12/16/32/64 i should buy, what version so it will be compatible to my router and WIC and VWIC.

i heard i can burn the router if i put the wrong memory in it.

any ideas?

P.s

Dave if i change my comppresion to G711:

1.do i need to make the same change on my second router on my second site?

2.how it will effect my call quality?

You need to use the same PVDM-12 SIMMs in the HDV. That would support 30 timeslots. Or you can plug the VWIC-MFT-E1 into a motherboard HWIC slot, and plug one PVDM2-64, or two PVDM-32s into the motherboard DSP slots. That would support 32 timeslots.

Is this VOIP bypass only or do you have IP phones using the E1s? Do you have enough bandwidth between sites for G711 (100kb per call)? G711 call quality is the best, but requires more bandwidth. If toll bypass, yes both routers should be set up for G711.

Dave

hi,

i do not have IP phone, just PBX vs. PBX.

what would happen if i do not configure G711 on the second site?

PVDM-64/32 - you mean pull out all my PVDM-12 and insted put 64 23? what version of 12 or 32 or 64 can i put with my VWIC?

How musc KB my commpresion is?

sorry for all the questions, need to solv it quiek, don't have time to read about it.

Thanks Dave.

waiting for your replay.

You need to use PVDM-12 in your NM-HDV. Adding two of these would be your easiest solution.

There are DSP slots in the motherboard that use PVDM2-XX DSPs. To use those slots you would have to reconfigure the router to use a VWIC-MFT-E1 plugged into one of the WIC slots. If you do this you would not use the NM-HDV.

If you post your entire config I could tell what codec you are using. If G729 you are likely using about 30kb per call. Both sites must use the same codec (G711 or G729).

How much bandwidth do you have between the sites?

Dave

HI Dave,

thank you for you replay and help.

My codac is G723ar63, how much bandwidth it is?

so according to your reply:

for the first solution i need to buy 2 PVDM-12 and install them on My NM-HDV.

or

buy PVDM2-64, install on my router Motherboard and plug the VWIC to the HWIC.

what is the part number for PVDM-12 that will work with my 2811 (to istall on my NM-HDV)?

why is the part number for PVDM2-12 that work with my 2811 (to istall on my routers MB)?

is there only PVDM-XX and PVDM2-XX?wat about thier versions?

thanks,

Pavel
