There is a rumor running around that a new VoIP power standard is comming out. Does anyone know of this and can provide some details on compatibility with existing hardware?

I am not very sure if the specifications have been announced yet. If you get some information, please share it. However I think it would be compatible with the existing hardware.

The new standard is 802.3af. The 4148 cards and power supplies need to be replaced. The latest I have received from many sources are that the Cards will be available Q4 of this year and the power supplies Q1 of next year. As we all know from past new releases sometime the new releases don't hold up and need at least a quarter or two to get the bugs out. Also required is the OS/IOS upgrades, you can find the details on CCO.
