The Paris telco has onsite and states the BRI line is fine, any ideas?

Does Paris telco has auto spid?

Do I need a special ISDN cable for use in Paris?

Do I have the right hardware ISDN card?

If the show isdn status command indicates that Layer 1 status is deactivated, then the router is not establishing a Layer 1 connection to the telco ISDN switch.

Most probably that is cable isue.

Use straight through UTP cable it should work.

There is slight posibility that the telco is deactivating automaticaly layer1 and layer2 if it's not used but i doubt it, as long as they were on site and said there is no problem.

Did you try to make a call from the outside? Does BRI activate on incoming call?

Layer 1 Deactivated is a physical issue, either with your patch cord, demark extension or CSU from the Telco.

Layer 2 is TEI, this is where the specifics for the CO are generated.

Layer 3 is routing, actually placing a call.

I would try your extended cables first, then have local test done on your Circuit.

None of these fixed it for me, changing the IOS to 12.4(6)T did the trick. The telco was probably irked I kept pointing the finger at them.
