PPPoE between two routers

Hello.

Can PPPoE be configured between two 26xx routers ?

If this is possible - can fragmentation and interleaving be configured at that link ?

There are two routers (Client router and Provider router) connected via Ethernet. Provider set a policer at their Ethernet port to limit traffic at 512k.

This link is used for VoIP, billing, and data traffic.

How to guarantee that voice traffic will not be delayed by high data traffic with a large packet lenght ?

The idea is to configure PPPoE at both routers, and set fragmentation and interleaving (if this is available).

The second solution - is to set MTU size to 80-100 bytes, and configure LLQ.

Any suggestion ?

Re: PPPoE between two routers

You need to configure QoS to prioritize the voice tarffic over data traffic. Here is the link which will help you for that

Re: PPPoE between two routers

Hello Tejal.

Of course I've configured all QoS requirements earlier (when customer have a PPP connection via serial link).

Now he is moved to Ethernet connection to SP with bandwidth restriction to 512k.

In this situation I'm not sure, that I can do the same capabilities (fragmentation and interleaving) with PPPoE.

Regards.

Re: PPPoE between two routers

YES..you can do that..You need to configure the dialer interface which is running ppp encapsulation.

Here is the link for QoS using dialer interface

Re: PPPoE between two routers

I had a similar post back March with the same problem but was not able to

get a solution. I can't understand how the dialer interface will work with the

ethernet interface.

The closest solution I got for my problem was this link :
