Hi all,
Does anybody know is it possible to have some voice priority with ATA?
The situation follows
LAN<-->ATA-188<-->router<-->Internet
We can implement some kind of voice priority in downstream using rate-limiting, class of service, etc on the router. But can we have some kind of priority in upstream direction?
What will ATA do if the traffic burst from LAN will rise to 10Mbps? Will it pass self-generated voice packets first or not?
Is that a good idea to pass all the traffic from the LAN via ATA or it can bury ATA performance?
Thanks,
Mike

On ATA-188, voice call traffic always has priority over date traffic. This is HW enabled and cannot be configured. There is no priority setting on the ATA that I know of other then configuring it on the router.

Have you seen any document where is stated that "voice traffic has priority over data trafic passed through ATA", because we expect some peaks up to 10 Mbps. Will the voice quality degrade or not?
Thanks,
Mike
