Voicemail disappears from system after sending to Exchange

Have Cisco 7960 IP Phones. Exchange 2003. When a voice mail comes in the message waiting light comes on on the phone and the message is forwarded to Exchange/Outlook. Before the user reads/.opens the mail the message light goes out and message can no longer be retrieved through voicemail.

One scenario where this would happen is if your users are using POP for mail retrieval and the email client pulls mail from the server without leaving a copy. A couple of solutions:

1. Use IMAP instead of POP mail

2. Set the email client to leave a copy of the message on the server. In this case, the MWI will still go off, but messages will be available throught the TUI as a saved message.

Hope this helps. If so, please rate the post.

I assume you also have Unity. Once the Unity message is moved from it's Exchange storage box, it's no longer accessible via the phone. You'd have to forward but leave messages on the server to get it to work.
