who requests bandwidth reservation, sender or receiver?

Does sender request bandwidth or receiver? In cisco document, it looks that receiver request the bandwidth reservation. If that's the case, how does receiver knows what the bandwidth it needs request? Will it be inside the sender RSVP path?

Re: who requests bandwidth reservation, sender or receiver?

True, receivers are responsible for requesting bandwidth reservation. A QoS request from a receiver host application is passed to the local RSVP process. The RSVP protocol then carries the request to all the nodes along the reverse data path to the source, but only as far as the router where the receivers data path joins the multicast distribution tree.
