SPA3102 sends more digits to the pstn line

Hello I have a SPA3102 and I use it with a SPA112 to send a pstn line to a remote location.

When i receive call everything works fine but when i dial out from the spa112 i cannot make any calls.

I see on my SPA3102 that in the status page, Last Called PSTN Number is the number that i called but with duplicate digits

eg I dial from the spa112, 555123456 and at the status page I see 555555112233344556.

I have tried to change the value  PSTN Dial Digit Len, i have better results but the problem is never sold.

You probably have the SPA112 setup for two-stage dialing to the SPA3102.  That is, you call the SPA3102, get a dial tone, then send DTMF digits to the SPA3102 to dial the number.  The DTMF digit transmission over the network is sometimes prone to error.  You should generally configure the SPA112 to send the DTMF via the AVT (RFC2833) protocol for best results.  If you have problems you should try the INBAND or INFO protocols to see if they are more reliable.

Depending on your use of the SPA112, if it is possible for you, a more reliable way to configure the SPA112 to communicate with the SPA3102 is to use one-stage dialing.  In this method you initially dial on the SPA112 the number you wish the SPA3102 to dial on the PSTN line.  The number is sent from the SPA112 to the SPA3102 via a Sip INVITE and you avoid the DTMF transmission problems.

To achieve one stage dialing from the SPA112 you need to set it up so that it sends the Sip Invite directly to the SPA3102.  I do not believe this is possible if you are using a voip provider(s) where you register both the SPA112 and the SPA3102.  It is possible if you are using direct ip dialing between the devices or have the SPA3102 setup as an outgoing trunk on a PBX.

If the SPA3102 PSTN Line Tab receives an incoming call where the called number (Request-URI) does not match the configured UserID on the SPA3102 PSTN Line Tab the SPA3102 will treat it as a request for one-stage dialing on the PSTN Line if one-stage dialing is enabled on the SPA3102.

Thank you Howard for your answer.

On my SPA112 i have the following dialplan

(S0:<@192.168.1.162:5061>)

Also i have enabled the ip dialing.

When i pickup the phone i get a tone from the line that is connected on the SPA3102 but when i dial out i get these extra digits.

Is this dialplan the proper one to achieve one stage dialing?

The dialplan you have will cause automatic dialing by the SPA112 to dial the PSTN Line Tab (port 5061) of the SPA3102.  The SPA3102 will return a dialtone for two-stage dialing.  On the SPA112 I would set the DTMF Transmit Method setting to AVT and see if that solves your DTMF transmit problem.

For one-stage dialing of numbers you would need to put the SPA3102 ip address, 192.168.1.162:5061, in the SPA112 Proxy setting, change the dial plan to (xx.), and have Register: No, Make Call Without Reg: Yes, Ans Call Without Reg: Yes.  When set this way the initial dial tone would come from the SPA112.

Thank you, i will test it and report back.
