7916 Side Cars - no longer working

I have a 7965 with two 7916 sidecars. We had a failed software upgrade and as a result a corrupted vlan.dat file which brought down the voice network.

Once the vlan.dat problem was resolved the voice network began to work again with the exception that the sidecars no longer funtion, they are stuck at the Cisco Splash logo and all buttons are orange.

I am not sure how to check their registration seperately from the 7965 phone.

Here is the ephone:

ephone 5

device-security-mode none

video

mac-address 0000.0000.565C

username "reception" password 9999

type 7965 addon 1 7916-12 2 7916-12

button 1:10 4m26 5m12 6m25

button 7m20 8m28 9m22 10m24

button 11m32 12m15 13m16 14m13

button 15m17 16m14 19m31 20m11

button 21m30 22m36 23m34 24m35

button 25m33 26m27 27m23 28m21

button 29m18 30m19

I am not sure what to check from here. I am not sure what the phone load is or what the statement is for the 7916 either.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Re: 7916 Side Cars - no longer working

Maybe not too much help, but someone told me this last week.   I asked them to undo the OOB CLI and use CCA 2.2 to add the sidecar in the voice configuration, and it worked.     Like I said, probably not what you wanted (CLI), but CCA made it work....

Does anyone know what the filename of the load is for the 7916?

Does anyone knwo the statement in the config I should look for to see if its even being loaded by the config?

Re: 7916 Side Cars - no longer working

Well I checked and:

The load is on the flash, the tftp statement is in the config, the load statement is there, and the add-on statement is there. I am not sure what to do next other than call TAC.

37  -rw-      164540   Dec 8 2008 15:16:54 -06:00  B016-1-0-2.SBN

load 7916-12 B016-1-0-2

type 7965 addon 1 7916-12 2 7916-12

tftp-server flash:B016-1-0-2.SBN

Any ideas where I go from here? All of the other phones including the 7965 are loading just fine.

Re: 7916 Side Cars - no longer working

I take it you didnt use CCA?   CCA does one other thing which is the Crete CNF (under telephony-service).

UC520-lab-1#conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line.  End with CNTL/Z.
UC520-lab-1(config)#telep
UC520-lab-1(config)#telephony-service
UC520-lab-1(config-telephony)#cre
UC520-lab-1(config-telephony)#create ?
cnf-files  create XML cnf for ethernet phone

UC520-lab-1(config-telephony)#create cnf-files

Re: 7916 Side Cars - no longer working

This phone has been in operation for over a year so I wasnt sure how to 'use cca to create it'. I did try removing the 7916 from the 7965 in CCA, appy, then add them back and there was no change.

In the end, once I had a hint as to what the config should be, and the filename, I discovered a file corruption. I deleted the old and uploaded a new copy and it worked.

Thanks

PS: After using CCA 2.2 yesterday to change the users (the only changes made) it re-wrote and re-organized all the voice-translations resulting in inbound calls being handled strangely (you call in and you get an intercom dialtone, you dial 9 and you can call anywhere you want). So I was up at 1am recovering the system to a previous backup, losing 3 hours of work I had done on the config yesterday. Grrr
