911 dialing

Hey guys,

Quick (and stupid) question regarding dialing 911

If we have the following config :

dial-peer voice 58 pots

trunkgroup ALL_T1E1

corlist outgoing call-emergency

description **CCA*North American-10-Digit*Emergency**

translation-profile outgoing OUTGOING_TRANSLATION_PROFILE

preference 3

destination-pattern 9911

forward-digits all

no sip-register

!

dial-peer voice 59 pots

trunkgroup ALL_FXO

corlist outgoing call-emergency

description **CCA*North American-10-Digit*Emergency**

translation-profile outgoing OUTGOING_TRANSLATION_PROFILE

preference 5

destination-pattern 9911

forward-digits all

no sip-register

!

dial-peer voice 60 pots

trunkgroup ALL_T1E1

corlist outgoing call-emergency

description **CCA*North American-10-Digit*Emergency**

preference 3

destination-pattern 911

forward-digits all

no sip-register

!

dial-peer voice 61 pots

trunkgroup ALL_FXO

corlist outgoing call-emergency

description **CCA*North American-10-Digit*Emergency**

preference 5

destination-pattern 911

forward-digits all

no sip-register

!

voice translation-profile OUTGOING_TRANSLATION_PROFILE

translate called 1112

voice translation-rule 1112

rule 1 /^9/ //

Does it means that if I dial 911 only (not 9911) it will call outside?

This is something kind of hard to test, and as I am unsure, I prefer to check this out before telling the client what to write in their emergency plan.

Thanks guys!

P.S. a chatroom would be nice for those questions

Re: 911 dialing

Yes, that is a CCA generated config.

911 OR 9911 will work.

EDIT: I should mention -- it is always best practice to do an ACTUAL 911 test call. These can generally be scheduled by calling the non-emergency line first if you are concerned about being fined for non-emergency calls. (Though I've found they are generally very understanding about it as long as you state right away that it is a test call and you do not have an emergency)

You can also do a translation rule test without having to actually dial 911. Go to Monitor ->Telephony -> Translation Profiles and you can see the results to make sure it's working O.K.

911 dialing

Anyone?

It is my understanding that 911 would "go out" and dial 911 directly, but of course, dialing 911 is kinda wrong just to test it out...
