Concerning UC 520 and Cisco Unified CallManager 5.0
According to the Q&A the Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series runs Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express 4.2, and from data sheet I read that the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express 4.2 can internetwork with Cisco Unified Communications Manager. Does it mean that the Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series can work with Cisco Unified Communications Manager? For example, our company has central office with server running Cisco Unified CallManager 5.0, and we have several remote branch offices, where we want to use Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series running Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express 4.2. We want to connect (by WAN or another way) the Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series to the central office and all calls will be processed by the Cisco Unified CallManager 5.0. Is it possible? If no, why? And what can you suggest?
Re: Concerning UC 520 and Cisco Unified CallManager 5.0
This can certainly be accomplished. If you want all calls to be processed by the CUCM 5.0, then all phones register to the CUCM and the router at the branch only processes calls if the WAN is unavailable. This option allows for centralized administration. Another option is to allow phones at the branch to register locally with the UC520 and configure a connection between CUCM and CCME using a trunk or gateway on the CUCM side and dial peers on the CCME side. This option saves some bandwidth by keeping call signalling traffic off the WAN.
