Disconnect Supervision - Silence Detect

Hi Guys,

We have an issue with disconnect supervision in Ireland.

Our incumbent (Eircom), does not send disconnect tones or line reversal/removal - just silence on disconnect, but Silence detect is not a possible option for disconnect detection on UC320, full details at link below:

The UC320W is automatically pre-configured to detect disconnect supervision using a number of methods including:

  • Battery Removal (timed loss of loop current).
  • Battery Polarity Reversal.
  • Disconnect Tone (specified duration, and single or multi tone frequencies to detect as "Call Disconnect").

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-16469#Line_Wont_Disconnect

If you could release a PMF that enables silence Detect as a disconnect supervision method that would be great.

Alternatively, as a bit of a hack to allow configurable Max voicemail duration, of reduce length (e.g: 2/3 Minutes), would be of great benefit to our Market (as currently only 3 messages can be stored due to Total storage per mailbox of 30min and default max message length of 10 min.

Hi John,

It looks like they are using the same tones as the UK disconnect tone.  The volume level is very low, perhaps that is due to the way the tone was captured.  Can you please download and install the UKdisconnectTone.pmf from here:

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-16301

and let us know if this meets your needs?  We will then build a PMF specific to Eircom.

Thanks,

Chris

The other option is to detect the busy tone which Eircom Finally sends - I am attaching a recording of that busy tone, it is very similar to the UK/BT Busy tone.

On asterisk, Detection of 2 Busy tones is sufficient to trigger disconnect, so I think same should work on UC320.

Hi John,

Based on the file provided you need your UC320W be set with a Disconnect tone as follows:

400@-30;4(0.5/0.5/1)

Please open a support call with our Cisco Small Business Support Center, and specify that you need to change the default disconnect tone of your UC320W to the tone specified above.   Once tested, the support person can formally request a PMF for Eircom Disconnect Tone.   There is also a Detect Silence PMF, but that is not an ideal solution.

Hi Julio,

Thanks for the quick reply, I will opend the support call now.

While I am waiting for the Eircom PMF to be created and tested, could you send me a link to the Detect Silence PMF, I cannot find it here:

http://www.ciscosbs2.com/movies/ucc/latest/

This will at least give me something I can use so lines to not get tied up for 10 minutes at a time, every time a voicemail is left.

Thanks

Hi John,

Can you send me your email address via Private Message.

I will send you disconnect tone for Eircom.

400@-30;4(0.5/0.5/1)

We can test and improve until working 100% of calls.

Best regards,

Julio

Hi There,

We are installing UC320W with UPC Ireland (2/3 Largest Telco after Eircom).  They are sending different tones to eircom on disconnect, and again no line reversal.

Could you create another PMF for UPC?

Attached is recording of UPC disconnect tone.

Thanks

John

Hi John,

I have opened bug CSCtz26930 to track this request.  If you have the tone definition in terms of Hz and duration (ms) that would be helpful too.

Good news - the UKdisconnectTone.pmf works for UPC - so that problem is resolved.  Also the Eircom issue is now resolved too - it appears to correctly detect Eircom disconnect tones with latest firmware.

Thanks for all the help

John
