Door entry system on FXS port of UC320W

Hello,

I have inherited a door access system with no information on it.  I have plugged it in to the FXS port on the UC320W and assigned it extension 199.  I can dial 199 and press "8" and the door opens, so it is going well.

My problem is I don't know what number the door is auto dialling when you press the call button at the door end.  I can hear the tones, so I know it is three digits, but I have no idea what they are.  Is there any way to monitor the FXS port to see what number is being dialed when I press the call button?

Cheers,

Tony

Use a tone decoder by listening to the tones or record them and there are websites that you can upload to to decode. Otherwise setup as a hot phone and he digits will be dialled to an external line when the call button is pressed do that then use call records to see what was dialled.

Out of interest what door phone unit is it? I may have a programming manual to save you the effort!

There are two buzzers, one is a pancode internal plastic one that looks like this one on ebay:

The other is a external Metal Nortel one that looks like the one on the right of this link:

I could only find one line to plug in so I think they are connected, they certainly both work off the same power supply so I think I am correct.  Also when you press the call button on them both they both dial the same tones.

I think I found a partial manual for the Pancode one online but I don't have the four digit administration code to program anything, and can't find an option for a hard reset.

Re: Door entry system on FXS port of UC320W

Hi Tony,

You can check the syslog to find out what digits the door has dialed. Please enable FXS port syslog in Configure Utility at Status->Support Tools->System Logs->On->UC320W FXS Port, then press the call button at the door. You will see new logs displayed.

Hope it helps!

Re: Door entry system on FXS port of UC320W

Hello Wendy,

I tried that and then searched the log for 199, being the extension the call would come from but nothing came up.  What other text could I search for to find the number being dialed.  I had assumed there would be a line saying extension 199 called xxx.

Thank you,

Tony

Hi Tony,

You can enable the button "Show SIP Only" at the syslog page, then check the SIP messages for the call from extension 199.

This is the log, am I right in thinking it is dialing "5" or "325"?

Re: Door entry system on FXS port of UC320W

Hi Wendy,

That seems strange, as I can defenetly hear three digits being dialed.  Is there a chance it is dialing before the line is live?  The previous occupants thought it might have been dialing 215.

Cheers,

Tony

Hi Tony,

Please contact the Small Business Support Center at the phone number listed (Please pick the appropriate phone number in your region) in the link attached? One of our engineers should be able to do live troubleshooting with you to check the detailed syslog while you press the door button..

Re: Door entry system on FXS port of UC320W

Hello Wendy,

As the phone system was only picking up the 5 I assigned 5 to a hunt group and it works.  My only concern now is that the phone system will get an update one day that will clear the delay on the analog line causing it catch more of the number dialed, i.e. 15 fo the 215.  However I will cross that bridge if it comes to it.

Thank you for you help,

Tony
