I have a couple of new phones that will not pick up addresses from DHCP. I started with 10 phones, eight picked up addersses fine, the other two did not. All were connected to the same port when being configured. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Hi Peter, have you been able to factory default the phone? You should be able to pick up the IP like any other phone unless there is an external issue such as a port security problem with the switch you're using (if it is managed). Are you able to assign a static IP and verify the switchport is working?

If you can assign a static IP to the phone to correspond to your network and it still fails, I'd venture to say the ether port is bad.

I cannot assign a static IP as it gets hung on the "initializing network" message and doesn't take any input. How do I perform a factory reset?   I don't think the external port is an issue, as I used the same port and patch to program eight other phones.

You should be able to push the menu button, it looks like a folded paper corner on the top right. This should swap over to the menu options. If you press the menu button and nothing responds, that phone software may be messed up.

You may try to see if you can recover the phone by using a layer 2 recovery tool. Navigate to the 7.4.9 firmware, download the zip package, extract all file to the same location and run the recovery.exe

If the phone doesn't take the button inputs and the software recovery fails, I think it's safe to say the phone is not in a functional condition.

Sorry, I was able to assign a static and connect to the phone; however, the firmware upgrade keeps failing with the error message "upgrade failed: firmware upload incomplete"

Hi Peter, are you using the spa50x-30x-7-4-9a-recovery.exe or the spa50x-30x-7-4-9a.exe?

For the conventional upgrade you should be using the non-recovery EXE.

Are you able to log in to the phone UI since you assigned the static IP?

I used the regular exe, not the recovery, becuase my phone wasn't exhibiting the behavior stated to use the recovery. I can log into the GUI.
