Using a UC520, how would a person tag an outgoing call with the extension or handset ID (so that our telco can provide handset level billing of Long Distance).
UC520 - 16 user
10 channel PRI
Several people have DID's, the rest are for fax machines, main telephone tree, etc.
All locals send the main telephone number (telephone tree) as their Caller ID number to our telco. (Even the people with DID's send out the main telephone number as their caller ID). Our telco (Allstream) does not override what we pass.
Allstream is telling us just to set the account number. How would we do this?
You should be able to create translations between DID and internal extensions. This can be done under "Configure > Telephony > Diaplan > Incoming" section. Once this is set, you can configure caller-id settings under the "Configure > Telephony > Dial Plan > Outgoing > Caller-ID
My DID's are correctly mapped inbound and outbound. They work as desired.
The problem is the outbound DID's all map to the main telephone number (which is what we want). This is so that customers cannot directly call our individual staff back. All calls need to go through the main telephone number.
BUT... We still want to send an account code with each call to our telco for billing purposes. So that they can give us detailed billing for long distance by account code (extension).
Alright, we won't be able to pass account codes to the PSTN through the PRI. UC 500 supports account codes that can be entered at the call setup - these are populated on CDRs that are generated on the UC 500. If you are running billing on the UC 500, then you can make use of this feature. The feature is enabled by default on all SCCP IP Phones.
