Translation pattern for UC500

We're fairly new to the UC500 and have a couple questions.  1) I believe we need to setup a translation pattern (or something like that).  When we attempt to make an outbound call, it only works if we enter a 10 digit phone number.  I know there's a way to append the number with a default area-code but we can't find it.  Is this a CL only configuration or can it be done via CCA 2.1?  If it's CL, it would be greatly appreciated if you could point us toward some documentation.  2) Our SIP provider stated that we needed to open UDP port 5060 for SIP and UDP ports 1024 - 64000 for RTP Media/Audio.  With these ports opened in/out, we can complete calls (in/out) however we can't hear anything.  For testing, we disabled the ACLs and all works well.  Do we need to open other ports to actually hear the conversation?
