UC520 MOH Problems

I have been browsing the internet and Cisco support forums (among others) trying to find help.  I am trying to take an MP3 file and create the appropriate AU file for MOH.  I have downloaded Audacity from SoundForge to attempt this with no luck.  I am trying to get the 8-bit 8-khz file and everytime I load it and test, it just sounds like static.

I have through the following forums in my searches:

https://communities.cisco.com/message/17431

https://communities.cisco.com/thread/1657

https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/313246

http://uc500.com/en/moh-music-hold

http://uc500.com/en/music-hold-issues

I've configured codecs, buffer, gain, etc.  I don't even know at this point if I've configured the AU file appropriately.

Anyone out there that would be willing to give me some pointers or has had the same tough time I am having with this?  Let me know what other information I need to provide.

Regards,
Jason

Hello Jason,

Here is a link for MoH settings:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmemoh.html#wpxref70473

If you still have problems, just let me know, and I can convert the file for you.

UC520 MOH Problems

Hello all,

Here are the steps I followed using Audacity (2.0.1)

*  File > open – choose the .mp3 file you want to use.

*  Change the track by choosing “split stereo to mono”.  (Use down arrow on the track to find this option.)

*  You will now have 2 tracks shown.  Click “x” to remove/close top track.

*  Change Project Rate in the bottom left corner to 8000Hz.

*  Click “File” > “export”. Change “Save as type” to “Other uncompressed files”.

*  Click on “Options” button on the right side.

     *  Header = AU (Sun/NeXT)

     *  Encoding = U-Law

*  Enter a file name – newmoh.au

*  Change Metadata if desired, otherwise just click on “OK”.

Now you should be able to load that file onto your UC500 to use for Music-on-Hold.

If using CCA, load file to "media" directory, and the new MoH file will show up in CCA for you to use.

Thank you,

Darren

Darren,

I've gone through most of that, still no dice.  I believe it's the manner in which the file is being saved.  I've tried using 16bit, mono using Audacity.  I've saved .WAV and .AU files, but unable to get either to work.

Hi Jason,

Are you saving this as a uLaw file?

I don't know if it matters, but I've been uploading the file via TFTP to the system.  I will also use CCA to enable MOH.  I have not gone too deep into the settings.  I'm on-site with customer now, so i'll give it a shot and play with the MOH file I'm trying to create.
