UC520 Upgrading to 8.2 Error On Restore with CCA 3.1

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I'm experiencing a strange issue when trying to restore the backups made prior to the upgrade to 8.2 from 7.x ..  Most of the configuration made it across, but the Auto-Attendant, voicemails, and scripts didn't make it over.  I'm guessing it has something to do with the error I get when trying to restore from the backup.

Below is a snapshot of the logs during the "Restore" from backup.  At the very end is the place where it gets ERROR messages that I believe is trying to use CCA ftp server.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

To add some additional information.

The troubleshooting steps I've taken so far:

No FTP / TFTP servers running on this computer (or another machine I tested) netstat -a before launching CCA

Firewalls disabled

Antivirus disabled

Disabled all except one NIC (Even disabled IPv6 as a troubleshooting step)

Can ping 192.168.101.8 and 10.1.1.1

Also, to show that the FTP works, just fails on that step, I uploaded a script file from an old backup and watched the logs again:

Another update on my side.

In following the error message below:

13:54:52,668 [ERROR] createFtpUserAcct(): failed to create username  =  cisco passwd = cisco rootDir = C:\Users\KYLE\.configuration assistant\backups\cue
13:54:52,668 [ERROR] java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Directory for user does not exist

I created the "cue" folder in the backup folder.

It went through a lot farther than before, but now I'm still having some other issues with restoring.  I will see what I can figure out.

Hi Kyle,

Your biggest problem is that upgrading from version 7.X.X to version 8.X is a very large leap and the scripts may not import properly or even at all, I actually think this is what you are experiencing. I am not aware of anyone who has had a great deal of success doing a large upgrade like that, the only time it has worked without major issue is if you do a staged-stepped-update which means you would have to do about 2 upgrades before you reach 8.2.

Yes a long winded and headache prone process, but some people just need to keep things the way it was before and I understand that, for me starting from scratch is by far more productive and easier

I would get support involved as I think they may have some tricks up their sleeves to get it to work, give them a call and log a case, you might need to log it under "Upgrade" or "Configuration" assistance so that way you get someone who might be more experienced with doing these things.

I have given up restoring the prompts and whatnot.

We are just going to re-record the prompts and write the welcome scripts again.

90% of the configuration held, so just losing those things is not a big deal. Although some users are a little upset about losing voicemails, but most of them ignore their voicemails anyway.

I wouldn't mind starting the phone system over from factory, but we have a PRI / T1 installed, and I didn't set that up, so I don't know how to configure it.

I think next time we do an upgrade, I'll just tell them no.
