While many people need to reset their device admin password, two of my Cisco 3005 concentrators are kind enough to do this of their own accord.
For a reason that I have not been able to ascertain, the admin password is reset to default after a cold boot.
There is more to this though, if the admin password has been changed, a cold boot freezes the device during boot. If they are then powered down for a minute or so; they come up, config intact, and the admin password set to default.
Has anyone experienced this before? I see this is not uncommon and would like to know if someone has resolved the issue. One device is running IOS 4.1 and the other 4.7.
I am experiencing the same problem on a 3000 concentrator. My device does not freeze on reboot though. I can change any other setting and it saves OK. This only affects the admin password. Has anyone resolved this?
