I have an extra L-ASA-VPNP-5540= License and I wanted to know if I could apply it to a ASA 5520. When I go to register the PAK to a Serial number it looks like it will work, but I have yet to hit submit. Anyone know if you can apply this license to a different model ASA?
I'm not positive on the answer to your exact question - if you call the TAC and ask for the Global Licensing team (or email firstname.lastname@example.org) they should be able to answer you definitively.
I doubt it would work though - my thinking being if they were interchangeable nothing would prevent someone from buying the least expensive model's license and using it on the more expensive ones. In your case the list price difference is about US$1000.
NOTE: The "VPNP" license types are not AnyConnect Premium by themselves - they are only licenses to allow an ASA to be a pool member in a shared licensing server's pool of participants.
