Anyconnect SSL VPN connection not working from hotel. Port 443 not blocked.
I am troubleshooting a strange issue reported by an employee who is trying to establish an SSL VPN connection to our Cisco ASA from a hotel in San Francisco. He is able to use the wireless connection at the hotel to get to the Internet. When he starts the SSL VPN connection from his browser, he gets successfully authenticated. However as soon as his machine is assigned an IP address, he loses connectivity to the Internet. The wifi interface on his PC seems to lose its IP address and link. Does anyone have any ideas on this issue?
The user reports that SSL VPN works fine from other locations.
The ASA code is new and so is the AnyConnect client version.
The client PC is running Windows XP with SP3 and all the latest updates are installed.
Port 443 is not blocked at the hotel as the user is able to get to https web sites.
Could the hotel be blocking SSL VPN connections outbound? If so, how would they be able to this, given the fact that port 443 does not seem to be blocked.
