ASA 5500 with DSL HWIC

With Cisco 1800 router you can add a DSL HWIC module.

Can you do that with ASA?

Also, is it possible to connect ASA straight to the Internet without having a DSL modem???

Re: ASA 5500 with DSL HWIC

As far as I know, the ASA doesn't support any modules that support DSL.

Here's a list of what platforms are supported:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/interfaces/ic/hardware/installation/guide/oview_ic.html#wp1129978

What's the actual model number of the card?

1841 and 1861 are the only modular routers in the 1800 range so it would have to be one of them.

No you can't do it with the ASA as ASA interfaces are all ethernet interfaces.

If the presentation to the ASA is ethernet then yes you can connect your internet connection directly into the outside interface of the ASA. If is not ethernet then no you will need a router.

To add:

The only modules supported on ASA are the IPS and CSC. Also a 4-port Ethernet. And this depends on the model.

As mentioned, a DSL connection cannot be terminated directly on the ASA since you will only have Ethernet ports.
