ASA 5510 utilizing only the GB interfaces

I am looking for what I need to utilize a 5510 to enable two interfaces for high speed VPN terminations of only a few sites. Our 5505s (I have dozens) can't handle speeds over 100Mb and I now have a few FIOS that exceed that ---150 to 300mpbs.  I want a basic 5510 that only needs to handle a few voice / data sites and it only needs to use two interfaces. Can a basic 5510 enable the two GB interfaces or just the FE ports?  I need to be able to utilize both 2Gb interfaces and no others. I'm sure the 5510 will probably support the same QOS settings that I utilize on the 5505s...I just need more interface speed so that I am not bottlenecking data (I know I could use multiple 5505s and spread the loads but that is not how I want to do it for other reasons). Thanks

ASA 5510 utilizing only the GB interfaces

Hi,

To my understanding the ASA5510 supports 2x 1Gbps interfaces when you have the Security Plus license for the ASA. The Base License only has 100Mbps interfaces.

Take a look at this document for information about the above licensing

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa82/license/license82.html#wp190732

Its a 8.2 version document but its still the same in 9.x regarding the requirement for Security Plus License to get the 2x 1Gbps interfaces

The ASA5500 Series documentation promises 300Mbps throughput for the ASA5510 model but I would imagine this is an ideal situation value. In newer document both max and multiprotocol max throughput values are given.

Here s a link to document
