What is the difference between ASA 5512 IPS K9 and ASA 5512 K9 ?

The "ASA5512-IPS-K9" is the Cisco ASA 5512-X IPS Edition which includes IPS service. The other one does not.

The IPS in this case is the classic style Cisco IPS. More people are these days going with the Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) IPS service which runs on the CX module. It is usually bundled with AVC and WSE packages.

I just buy a 2 Cisco ASA 5512.  Cisco should figure out the way to make it easier for user with all the licensing. It is too much confusion.
