I plan on using an ASA 5520 to deploy mutilple (maybe up to 100) virtual interfaces (VLANs) which will require many DHCP scopes. What is the maximum number of DHCP scopes for a 5520 vs. deploying a "standalone" Windows Server 2003 DHCP Server?
I don't believe we do any specific load testing with the DHCP server feature. Theoretically you can define each interface to have a DHCP pool, but I'm not sure I'd want to set up my firewall to be handing out that many addresses. It's a fairly bare-bones DHCP implementation also, you can't configure each inteface to have different DNS/WINS servers for example, all interfaces share those values.
My preference in this case would be to set up a Windows server as your DHCP server and have use the DHCP relay feature of the ASA to forward the requests.
